First Responders Report to County Board of Elections Office

Earlier today, Aug. 26, at around 2:44 p.m., members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Oswego County Board of Elections Office, located at 74 Bunner Street, Oswego, for a report of an unknown substance that was found on a piece of mail.

Three employees were evaluated by county Emergency Medical Services, and one was transported to Oswego Hospital for precautionary reasons. As a result, the building was evacuated and employees were sent home.

Ultimately, the substance was tested and deemed not hazardous.

The building will be open again tomorrow, Aug. 27.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Oswego City Police Department, Oswego City Fire Department, Oswego County Fire Coordinator’s Office, New York State Police and the United States Postal Inspection Service.
